⚘Our Farm⚘

Homefield’s first flowers were planted by Malissa and Simon on rented land in the spring of 2016.  They took the name Homefield because, though they didn’t own land, they could make any field their home.

Skip to now and that home is in Hemmingford, Quebec. There, with their team of homies, they responsibly grow over 50 varieties of the most out of this world cut flowers you can find locally in Montreal.

Homefield doesn't abide by one overarching agricultural methodology, but takes what makes sense from many, always keeping things slow, practical and earth conscious.

why local flowers?

First off, in our humble opinion, flowers are some of the most magical things on our planet (only twins and aurora borealis even come close). A flowering bloom seems to be a microcosm of all existence, look long enough and the whole universe is in there. But there’s more to what we do than just tripping out on the golden ratio.

There are some real deal, down to earth, ecological and economical benefits to “small scale” local agriculture of all kinds.

Here’s just a few:

  • As we all become more earth conscious, farms like Homefield that grow responsibly, without the use of chemical pesticides or fertilizers give florists and the public another option.

  • Imported flowers are gorgeous, but it takes a lot of energy to get them here. Reducing the need for importing, by growing in Quebec when the weather permits, helps shrink the shoe size of the carbon footprint the industry leaves.

  • Strong local businesses bolster Quebec’s economy and create a foundation that stabilizes all that’s built on top.

Distinguishable by a unique blending of idealism and aesthetics, Homefield’s mission is for their far out flowers to be a chill, planet smart, easy to access local option for folks in Montreal and surrounding areas.

Numero uno is spreading them good vibes to everyone along the way, everyday.
